Example of glory, based on gender differences
     1.   women are relationship-oriented; men are visually stimulated
     2.   this example is sexist, a guy thing
     3.   a guy sees a woman
               a.   physically attractive features & figure
               b.   wearing perfect clothes to highlight her figure
               c.   clothes are perfect color for her skin tones
               d.   hair stylish, accentuates facial features
               e.   makeup done masterfully
               f.   her appearance: "stunning," "wow!", beautiful woman
               g.   who she is, how she looks, what she does makes strong impression; her glory
     4.   God doesn't reveal his glory just to make impression
               a.   he shows up to do business & he makes impression
               b.   people's reactions:
                         i.   Israelites afraid, wanted Moses as mediator
                         ii.  prophets overwhelmed, filled with fear or fainted
                         iii. Paul blinded
                         iv.  when Jesus transfigured, disciples overwhelmed
     5.   Now consider Jesus' glory

Jesus’ Glory
     1.   Before coming to earth
               a.   Jn 17:5 Jesus had glory before the world began; his personal glory, entirely
          separate from anything he did on earth.

     2.   During earthly ministry
               a.   Isa 53:2 his glory not visible during earthly ministry; looked like typical human
               b.   Jn 2:11 revealed his glory thru miraculous signs
               c.   Jn 11:40 revealed God's glory by raising Lazarus from dead
               d.   Jn 17:4 Jesus glorified Father by completing his assignment
               e.   Lk 9:29-32 appearance changed, clothes extremely bright: his glory in visible
          form (Mt 17:2, 5  Mk 9:3)

     3.   After earthly ministry
               a.   Jn 12:23 Jesus was not glorified until after his earthly ministry
               b.   Jn 13:31-32 glorified by Judas' betrayal; betrayal led to his crucifixion
               c.   Jn 17:1 after earthly ministry
               d.   Jn 17:5 glory after ascension was resumption of his original glory
               e.   2 Cor 13:4 crucified in weakness; no glory evident
               f.   Rom 6:4 Father's glory raised Jesus from dead; Father's glory enables us to live
          new life
               g.   1 Tim 3:16 taken up into glory
               h.   1 Pet 1:21 raised from dead & glorified
               i.   1 Cor 2:8 is the Lord of glory
               j.   Lk 24:26 entered his glory after crucifixion
               k.   His death on cross was not humiliating defeat, but the peak of his earthly
          ministry. Why? How was this related to his glory, which he had before world
          began?

     4.   End times
               a.   Mt 16:27 Jesus return in Father's glory (Mk 8:38  Lk 9:26)
                         i.   Why his Father's glory & not his own?
                         ii.  Son equal to Father but submitted to him
                         iii. Father sent Son to earth first time to minister & die, will send him back
               second time to set up kingdom
                         iv.  Father's plan, Father's authority, Father's glory
               b.   Mt 24:30 power & great glory
               c.   Mt 25:31 in heavenly glory
                         i.   in his own glory
                         ii.  Son's return will have major impact on world -- his glory
               d.   Tit 2:13 glorious appearing (Gk: appearance of the glory of our great God and
          Savior)
