     1.   Comparison, OT to NT
               a.   OT emphasizes physical blessing, physical obedience, physically experiencing
          God's glory.
               b.   NT emphasizes spiritual, which must be accepted by faith because it normally is
          not physically detected.
               c.   OT stresses observing God's glory.
               d.   NT makes it possible to participate in it.

     2.   The past
               a.   Gen 1:27 How did Adam appear in the Garden of Eden? Adam had God's
          characteristics, including his glory
               b.   Ps 8:5 a little lower than elohim (God, plural), crowned with glory; not said of
          angels?
               c.   Gen 3:7 realized nakedness: lost the glory?
                         i.   "eyes opened ... realized" means they became aware.
ii.  either because their ability to perceive changed or because condition they
               perceived changed.
iii. Glory is result of who one is; evidence, "presence"
iv.  God gave man glory, in God's image, little lower
                         v.   Adam & Eve clothed in glory; sin destroyed their glory and they were
               exposed. sin changed their nature.
vi.  Adam walked with God every day; did he “glow” because he was with
God, or did he “glow” because he was created in God’s image?
vii. After Adam sinned, he realized he was naked. What happened? Was he
naked before and didn’t have the knowledge to realize it? Or did he lose
something when he sinned and became naked? Did he lose his God-like
               glory?

     3.   The present
               a.   Rom 3:23 all have sinned, fall short of the glory of God
               b.   Jn 17:22 Jesus gave believers glory Father gave him
               c.   Eph 3:16 Holy Spirit in us is expression of God's glory -- "glorious riches" or
          "riches of his glory"
               d.   Co 1:27 Christ in you, the hope of glory; hope is assurance, not wishful
          thinking.
               e.   2 Cor 3:18 transformed to image of Jesus with ever-increasing glory
                         i.   his Spirit in you imparts his glory to you so you are gradually
               transformed into his image/glory.
ii.  restores you to man's original condition.

     4.   The future
               a.   1 Pet 5:10 we're called to God's glory
               b.   Rom 8:18 glory will be revealed in us (God's kingdom)
               c.   Rom 8:29-30 our destiny: to be glorified (as good as done); likeness of Jesus,
          including his glory.
               d.   1 Cor 15:42-43 raised in glory
                         i.   whose? God's.
ii.  God's glory raised Jesus from dead, will raise you.
               e.   Php 3:20-21 our glorified bodies, bodies transformed, have same glory as his;
          "like his glorious body"
               f.   1 Jn 3:2 "we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is."
                         i.   If you don't have same glory as God, you are overpowered by his and
can see only his glory, not him.
ii.  If you share his glory, aren't overwhelmed by it & can see him as he
               really is.
iii. You cannot presently see God as he is; he must present himself in a
               manner you can safely experience.
iv.  When he appears, he will transform us; then we shall be like him and
see him as he really is.
                         v.   1 Co 15:42-44 “So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body
that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in
dishonor, it is raised in glory (!); it is sown in weakness, it is raised in
power (!); it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body (!).”
vi.  vs 50-52 “I declare to you, brothers, that flesh and blood cannot inherit
the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable.
Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be
changed — in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet.”
               g.   Co 3:4 when Christ appears, you appear with him in glory (condition, not
location); received glorified body at resurrection
               h.   Mt 13:42-43 after wicked are removed, righteous will shine (glory)
               i.   Having had the glory restored to him, the Christian will be what God intended
          man to be.
               j.   Final state of believer: glorification, like God in his glory.
